The blend: 95% cab sauv, 4% petit verdot, 1% cab franc
The story: Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy does funny things to himself while in the... oh, wait... that's a different story. This one's less seedy. The fruit for this wine is grown in some of the best soil in Napa-- Mt. Veeder, Howell Mountain and Atlas Peak. The wine spent 15 months in 100 percent French oak barrels... hence the accent.
What it tastes like: It's really smooth. Not overpowering. There's a sweetness to it... not cloying, but pleasant. You'll pick up vanilla notes, and I swear I tasted something akin to peanut butter... the non-toxic stuff, of course.
What to serve it with: Grilled rib-eye smothered in blue cheese.
Song pairing: "Kiss" by Prince. Just feels right.
The price: $40
Imbiber rating: 90
