SUMMER WHITE
WINE GUIDE
The Imbiber enjoys expensive sparkling wine as much
as the next guy, but most of my drinking buddies are
underemployed and think Dom Perignon was a character
on "The Sopranos." So, whenever those mooks drop by
and want to act fancy I give 'em Barefoot Bubbly. And
they like it. A lot. So do I. Comes in three
varietals -- Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and White
Zinfandel.

Feeling Oh So Fine at
Food & Wine
By Dan Dunn
Your
Imbiber recently attended the
Food & Wine
Classic in Aspen taking in all the alcohol …
er,
action
at the industry’s most hallowed annual event. Here
are a few observations:
*** There are two phases to all-day drinks festivals. Phase I is where you can still count the number of drinks you’ve had; Phase II is where you just count the hours you’ve been drinking, figuring your burn rate is about six or seven drinks an hour — it’s not unlike the drug guys in movies who weigh the money instead of counting it.
*** The Macallan 30-year-old Sherry Oak single malt tastes like fruitcake for big people. Aging it in sherry casks instead of those used for bourbon provides more texture and volume. Aging it thirty years also adds to the cost — $750 per bottle. But we’re worth it, right?
*** Celebrated wine guru Josh Wesson knows more about pairing vino with chocolate than any other person on the planet. Google “Josh Wesson Chocolate” and see for yourself. To read the rest click here...

Set ‘em Up, Slam ‘em Down: wine edition
May/03/2007
The Imbiber received an e-mail last week from a lovely reader named Kelly who really enjoyed “Set ‘em Up, Slam ‘em Down: micro-reviews for on-the-go adults who want to be in-the-know imbibers.” We introduced this feature a few weeks back, highlighting a number of delightful spirits including Caravella limoncello and DH Krahn gin.
“Could you please do something similar, only with wines this time?” Kelly wrote. She was clever enough to include a few photos of herself along with her request, and that sealed the deal. Yet another reminder, ladies, that men really are that easy. So, on to the vino:To read the rest click here...
