Imbiber’s Second Annual Vodka
Throwdown

Fifteen
different vodkas, twenty some-odd professional
tasters, one lovely spokesmodel, and a couple of
irate neighbors threatening to call the cops … yes,
folks, the Imbiber’s Second Annual Vodka Throwdown
was another event to remember, although given the
sheer volume of vodka that was consumed, I doubt many
of the attendees actually do. The blind taste test
went down like this: Vodkas (all “regular,” not
infused) were divvied up into three flights
consisting of five brands each. Teams of tasters
chose two favorites from each group, then evaluated
and ranked those six finalists. Here are the flights,
with the finalists in bold:
Flight 1 — Stolichnaya Elit, Smirnoff, Level 1, Boru, Reyka
Flight 2 — Effen, Absolut, X-Rated, Silk, Snow Queen
Flight 3 — Grey Goose, V2, Russian Standard, 360, Sonnema
