| This battle between creamy Elephantine goodness and citrus tang is an odd one, to say the least. But think: What would the 9-year-old you prefer on a hot day? No, we're not recommending serving either of these to actual 9 year olds, but the contest here is not unlike choosing between ice cream and lemonade. Grownup ice cream and grownup lemonade. Both are delicious, but when the Mr. Softee truck pulls up you don't order five ice cream cones. Whereas with lemonade -- whether you're 9 years old or of legal age, you can drink quite a bit of lemonade. Just keep peeing it out and going back for more! So while the Mud Bath is a tasty treat -- a brilliant play within the 18-yard-box, perhaps -- the margarita will have you going the full 90 minutes. | ||

| It's Day 1 yet the host team is already facing elimination. Figure Bafana Bafana (as South Africa are known) won't beat France, and their match against Uruguay will be irrelevant -- something improbable has to happen for them to advance, and that would be beating Mexico. The Mexican side is as-usual strong, although captain Cuauhtemoc Blanco isn't the whiz he used to be. (Actually, what they're saying is he's simply too fat -- although Brazilian striker Ronaldo came in extra pudgy in 2006 and set a scoring record.) Though hampered by injuries, Mexico is young and hungry. And Mexico is also Mexico. South Africa won't pull the upset here, and likely won't make it into the knockout stage. | ||
